Fields of Mistria Beginner Guide
Keep the first week small and repeatable: water what you can maintain, meet the town, and turn early resources into permanent progress.
Direct answer
For the first week, prioritize a small crop area, daily watering, basic tool and bag upgrades, town introductions, and a short repeatable route through gathering or fishing. Do not clear the whole farm or spend every Tesserae on decoration; leave energy and money for seeds, food, the Worn Shovel, and the first useful upgrades.

Make the first days repeatable
A good opening route is not a full farm clear. Water a crop area you can finish, collect nearby resources, speak to a few residents, and use the remaining time for fishing, gathering, or a short mine trip when your energy allows.
Rain changes the value of a day: use the saved watering energy for gathering, errands, tool work, or exploration. Before leaving home, check the weather, available food, shop hours, and the task that has the clearest permanent payoff.
Spend early money without trapping the save
Seeds, basic recovery items, the Worn Shovel, and a small number of practical upgrades help the first week more than decorative purchases. Keep a cash buffer so one missed harvest or shop visit does not stop the next plan.
Energy is a route constraint, not a score to empty every day. When the bar is low, stop before a long walk home becomes a wasted morning. A smaller field that is watered consistently beats a large field that consumes the whole schedule.
Learn the systems that unlock future choices
Meet residents, read letters, check the Request Board, and watch which shops sell tools, seeds, recipes, or upgrades. Early conversations are useful even when you are not choosing a romance route yet.
Keep one copy of unfamiliar fish, insects, flowers, and artifacts until you know whether the Museum, a request, a recipe, or a gift needs them. Selling every new item is quick money but can create a longer backtrack later.
Tools, stamina, and the farm rhythm
Hoe, Watering Can, and Shovel have separate jobs: prepare soil, water crops, and shape or clear usable ground. Unwatered crops do not advance that day, while rain is a useful window for errands, gathering, or mining.
Upgrade the tool you use most often, but keep materials for requests, buildings, weapons, and the next mine checkpoint. A small plot that you can maintain is more useful than a large field that consumes the entire morning.
Residents, gifts, and weekly events
Conversation and gifts build relationships without a decay penalty for missed days. Each resident accepts one gift per day, while birthday bonuses and preference levels make the right item more valuable than a random expensive item.
Friday Night at the Inn and Saturday Market are reliable social anchors once their story conditions are open. Keep social routes on the way to other tasks instead of trying to visit every resident every day.
