✦Three checks before you install

Confirm the mod page names your current Fields of Mistria version, engine, operating system, dependencies, and installation method. A recent upload date alone does not prove compatibility.

Copy an unmodified save and important settings outside the game directory. If a mod adds items or changes data, read the author's uninstall warning before you let it touch a valuable save.

✿Use MOMI as a manager, not a safety guarantee

Follow the author's instructions for the mods folder, extraction depth, manifest, and manager version. Some archives need to be unpacked; others must remain in a specific structure. Do not apply one generic rule to every download.

After installation, launch a test save and restore only a small number of mods at a time. If an item, menu, or portrait fails, the smaller change set makes the conflict easier to identify.

◆Handle a game update like a compatibility event

A game update can overwrite modified files, change data structures, or invalidate a dependency. Disable or remove mods, preserve the mod list, check author notes, and reinstall only versions that explicitly support the new build.

Steam file verification can restore original files, but it is not a save repair tool. If a clean client still fails, keep the backup and report the game version, mod list, and reproduction steps to the appropriate official or mod author channel.

Create a `mods` folder beside the game's main data files, then follow the specific archive and dependency instructions for each Mod. Run the installer, check that the Mod appears in its list, and install only the entries you recognize.

If the installer cannot find the game, place it near the game directory or use the documented path option. Check the author, update date, dependencies, and scan results before opening an unfamiliar download.

A scan result is only one signal. Do not disable system security, share account credentials or Steam cookies, or give remote-control access to a tool that promises a one-click repair.

Keep a clean backup outside the game folder and do not redistribute repacked or cracked files. Install, update, and remove third-party content according to the author's current notes and your game's version.
