Heart events not triggering: a checklist

Check missing heart-event requirements before reporting a bug, with Eiland and Juniper’s eight-heart letters, quests, mine unlocks and the next step to take.

Light spoiler noticeThis page mentions relationship, collection, or unlock conditions without reproducing full story dialogue.

Direct answer

Check earlier events, heart level, the letter or Request Board, the active quest, story unlocks, and finally the meeting place and time. Eiland and Juniper both need access to the Lava Caves for their eight-heart quests; simply reaching eight hearts does not satisfy those requirements.

Check these conditions in order

Heart events belong to marriage candidates; an ordinary resident’s hearts do not promise an equivalent event. Use the character’s current event instructions, not another candidate’s timetable.

  1. Finish the previous two-, four- and six-heart events in sequence. Check the quest journal rather than only the heart meter.
  2. Confirm the heart threshold and whether the relationship requires a Dating choice.
  3. Read the relevant letter and check the Request Board. A hint letter may not add a quest.
  4. Look for the exact quest title in the journal and obtain any requested item.
  5. Complete the named story or mine prerequisite, then revisit the mail/event trigger.
  6. Go to the specified place during any stated time window. Not every event starts by talking to the character anywhere.

Eiland: which eight-heart letter did you get?

First finish The Stele, The Ruins and The Manor. At eight hearts without Lava Caves access, Just a hunch... is a progress hint; it does not attach a meeting quest.

After unlocking the Lava Caves, Shall we go for a walk? supplies The Glade. Read it and go to the Deep Woods for the meeting. If you only have the first letter, progressing the mine seals is the next action; repeatedly visiting Eiland will not substitute for that unlock.

Juniper: the board, the bathhouse and the flower

Her two-heart quest, Becoming Juniper’s Guinea Pig, comes from the Request Board. Complete it at the Bathhouse, then finish Horsing Around at four hearts and Working Like a Dog at six hearts; the latter sends you to her room at the Bathhouse.

At eight hearts with Lava Caves access, the letter Time to Test the Waters starts Potions and Errands. Obtain a Breath of Flame in the Lava Caves and bring it to Juniper at the Bathhouse. Arriving without the flower does not finish the request.

A previous Shooting Star Festival outing changes some dialogue in this scene, but does not lock you out of the romantic choice. Choose the relationship you want during the event itself.

The floor-100 tablet still will not advance

The Dragonsworn Tablet requires the completed eight-heart events of both Eiland and Juniper. It does not merely check that two heart meters say eight. Resolve The Glade and Potions and Errands, speak to Juniper, then return to reading the tablet.

These events also unlock the path to the Dragon-Forged Core for an engagement ring. Working on a different partner’s hearts cannot replace either of these two story prerequisites.

When every requirement is met

Update the game and preserve a separate save before testing. If you use mods, check their compatibility and reproduce on an unmodified copy where possible. Do not delete your main save or assume reloading, waiting for a new season or gifting another item is a universal fix.

For a useful report, note the game version, platform, mods, character, heart level, previous completed events, exact letter and quest titles, mine floor/unlocked region, meeting location, in-game date and time. Add a screenshot of the journal and the steps that fail.
